Ross & Cromarty War Memorials

DUNDONNELL

The monument stands on a high rock, by the side of the A832, and facing on to Little Loch Broom, and can be reached by a gravel path. Map reference is (approximately) NH068890 on OS Sheet 19. It is small by comparison with other monuments, and is made of polished grey granite. The upper part is a tapered octagonal with a 'fleur de l??' on top standing on an ornate square block, also of polished grey granite. These stand on a three-stepped tier of red sandstone. There is a metal railing round it all, but no gate. To the side of the monument, there is a level area next to the railings large enough for about 50 people to stand on. There are two cracks on the upper tapered part. On the side facing the road are the words -
