Ross & Cromarty War Memorials

 

EVANTON

Situated on the west side of Evanton, and at the junction of the Old Evanton Road from Dingwall, and the access road off the A9.

The monument is in grey granite, stood on a large platform of cemented grey granite blocks. This is topped by a Celtic cross which has an interwoven Celtic design on its front face, but plain on the back. Measuring 12 feet by 18 feet and 5 feet in height, it has a flight of steps, formed into an arc, on the east side.

OS map ref is NH605 657 on OS Sheet 21.

Below the Celtic cross is a panel with the words

ledge under which is a large square block with
moulded edging on the corners. On the front, there
is a wreath design where the arms of it encircle a
crown - then the words -
