Ross & Cromarty War Memorials

GARVE

The Monument is on a hillside just above the railway crossing.

It is a grey granite, slightly tapered pillar with a Celtic Cross on top. There is a sword motif centred on that Cross. Below that is a polished panel with the words -

Map Ref NH 394 615 on Sheet 20.

TO THE GLORY OF GOD, AND
IN SACRED MEMORY OF THE FOLLOWING MEN
CONNECTED WITH THE PARISH OF KINLOCHLUICHART
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN DEFENCE OF
THEIR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR
1914 - 1918

Under that is a larger polished panel, divided in two,
all standing on a square pile of cemented large
stones, about 7 feet(2.5m) on the base, and just
over a metre (4 feet) in height.
