Ross & Cromarty War Memorials

KILMUIR EASTER

The Memorial is a grey granite cross, with a Celtic intertwined design down it and stood on a sandstone base. There are small pillars of the same material on each side. In front is a low moulded sandstone wall rounded on top. Behind it is Kilmuir Easter Parish Church.

There are two ways of getting to this monument. One is off the south side of the A9, signposted 'Kilmuir Easter Cemetery', down a narrow single-track road (no passing-places). An easier one is the road from Invergordon, past Barbaraville, and monument on the left at a church.

The site has a pleasant outlook over the Cromarty Firth, with Nigg Fabrication Yard and Cromarty, and the Sutors, in the distance. Map Reference is NH757 733 on Sheet 21.

The inscriptions read -

KILMUIR EASTER
unto
the Glory of God and in Memory of
the unreturning brave
