The Memorial is a grey stone pillar with a Celtic on top. It is
located in a delightful garden with well-mown lawns, a path leading to thr monument,
and a number of ??. The whole site overlooks the famous Inverewe Gardens.|
The monument comprises a number of blocks on whuch the pillar stands. The top-most block,
on which the pillar stands, carries the 1914-1918 names. The next block down has a gaelic inscription -
"Lean Iad Gu Dluth Ri Cliu An Sinnsear"
which translates as -
"They followed soon after their forefathers"
The third and fourth blocks show the names for the 1939-1945 War. Thus we have the unusual
situation that there are more names for WW2 than for WW1. It is normally the other way round.
