TORRIDON

A small, dark grey granite pillar, mostly polished, on a stepped design. Two small red granite pillars adorn the front. It is located just off the road, and down from the new Village Hall, in a green (moss) patch which is lined with large blocks of granite. There is a gate and a path of small stones. There are inscriptions on all four sides - the front ones are -

1914-1918

Below that -

O LORD HASTEN THOU THE DAY WHEN NATION
SHALL NOT RISE UP AGAINST NATION, WHEN THEY
SHALL NOT LEARN TO WAR ANY MORE, AND WE
THANK THEE THAT MEANTIME THOU HAST
PROVIDED US WITH THE INSTRUMENTS
OF DEFENCE AGAINST OUR ENEMIES.
